1st Day of Umping

Last night was my son's first day of umping. This is just a picture of him playing in the last game. I'll have to get a picture of him umping. I guess he did pretty well! He only let a kid get 4 strikes one time. He said he was nervous for the first batter, then he felt confident. He made all the calls nice and loud and only had one shout out from the stands:

"STRIKE? That's more like golfing! FOUR!"

It's a good thing that happened after my husband left. He told me he would escort anyone out of there who was mean to him.

Here's my son pitching in last weeks game during the rain. It was a steady drizzle and got so dark, he couldn't even see the plate. That was pretty difficult for him.

During the game I looked over at one of the dads and saw his camera pointing at me! I thought, "I hope he's not taking one of me!". He was. He took tons of pictures of the whole team with his new fancy camera and sent them to the everyone. That was very nice of him. They came out really good, except for mine.

"Hey, I'm going to take a picture of that mom who looks cold and miserable. She'll probably want to frame it!" LOL... That's funny he took it, but it made great blog material!!

Pitching and playing in the rain sounds MISERABLE! I'm a wimp. I'd have much rather they called the game and let me go home!!

Yeah, you don't look too happy there. Actually, you look like you want to slug the guy! Too funny.

Usually we moms are the ones taking the photos, and our albums are full of motherless shots of the family. I suppose this way, you've got some leverage on the kids..."See? There I was, IN THE RAIN, watching you ump."

It's PROOF!

I love the pic of you! It's so unplanned. As for the terminology and escorting people out, I have no clue what that is all about. I guess I'm just not a baseball person.

Personally...I really like that picture of you standing and watching the game in the rain. It speaks about your devotion to your kids. ;)

No, I think your picture came out good too. Just remember to smile next time. ;)

Standing out in the rain--the things we do for our kids, LOL.

At least now you have proof!

Haha...I love the contradiction of your smiley face umbrella and your none-too-amused expression!

It's a great shot, I can just see you thinking, "Don't you point that camera at me!"

Wow! I can really identify with you...Jimmy was going to referee one of his sister's summer basketball games some years back and I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown. The only one it bothered was me...Marianne said, "Jimmy will be fair," and Jimmy said, "So, they wouldn't have asked me it they thought I wouldn't be fair." What they didn't know is I was worried about the other parents and how they felt about the possible nepotism.

All went well...It usually does and I feel silly because I worried. When will I ever learn?

Good day to you! Cathy

Oh, whatever. You look great, although a bit ticked off about the rain. I think most everyone does in the same situation.

Yay! for a job well done umping!

oh man. that has to be hard for a kid his age. our soccer league uses youth umpires alot and the parents can get ugly. i feel bad for those kids sometimes!

That's not a bad picture...I, too, look the same way when it rains. Your son looks great on the mound!

I detest pictures of me, too...but in spite of the "He's not taking one of me, is he?" look on your face, yours looks pretty good.

It's funny nones see ourselves as other people do.

Your son is a real cutie!

I am that crazy dad with the new, fancy camera who is always taking pictures of everyone and everything and then sending them to people because obviously they want them. Except I'm not a dad.
