Happy Birthday Son!

Today is my older son's birthday. He turned 12 today. I love to celebrate my kids birthdays. I love how excited they get. We're not doing anything big, just inviting a few of his friends over for pizza, cupcakes, and of course, video games.

When I was younger, I could never imagine myself with older kids. I didn't want to imagine myself with older kids! Now that I have two in middle school, I love it more than anything. They're just taking their first steps into becoming an adult by doing a lot of things for themselves and becoming more independent, but he still loves his mommy and hugs and kisses me every day. He would be embarassed if he knew I was saying this!

My now twelve-year old was both my easiest and hardest baby out of all four. I had him one week late, and knew he was going to be a large baby. I was induced at 7:00 in the morning and he literally popped out only 3 hours later, broken collar bone and all. He weighed in at... 9lb 11 oz! He's still a big baby, I mean big boy today. And I just thanked him yesterday for being the most easy-going of my kids. He replied, "Your welcome, mommy!".

Happy Birthday to you son. I like reading about good relationships between teen agers and their parents, it gives me hope.

he looks so grown up! Happy Birthday to your oldest!! it's hard watching them go through what they do at this age, but I so enjoy that you get to connect with them on such a different level...you know?

Happy Birthday! It sounds like my kind of party (well without the video games!)

Yup, from day one, he was the kid who just took every day in stride. Even as a baby, he always had a completely laid-back look on his face. An absolute mini-me of his dad.

See ya Sunday! I told Kallie we are coming up and she telling me she wants to go to A's house. I told her that first, tomorrow, we would see Mimi and she immediately got excited and said "Yeah, I can play with A!" I think she is going to be disappointed when she realizes she is going to have to wait another day. That, and she probably will be sleeping most of the time we are there!

He looks older than 12....I was thinking 14 or so.

I love my older kids, too. Don't get me wrong: I love my 7 year old and loved when all of my kids were babies and little.....but there's something really special about seeing them grow up and discover our big world. :)

Happy Birthday to him!! Hard to believe Em's halfway to twelve (as of this coming May...LOL). It's gone by super super fast, and I imagine the next 6 will be even faster. I'm glad to hear there are enjoyable things about the pre-teen stage, because I'm, quite franky, TERRIFIED!

Sounds like he'll have a good time with his friends!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
And ouch, poor mommy on his 'birth' day. I can't imagine life with middle school kids... it will come though...

I've found that whatever stage they're in is the one I enjoy the most.

Happy Birtday from one 3/28 baby to another!

He's still a big baby, I mean big boy today... so true! Caught ya! I always call the twins the babies. The babies are going off to college ...the babies are getting married... It's gotta stop but I just can't yet! He sounds so great. I love having older kids too. It's exciting!

Heh - this is my first time visiting. My son was big too (though not quite as big - 9 lbs. 6 oz.) . . . and I'm so curious as to how big he'll turn out.

He's so cute!
